The foundations of the International Congress on Accounting and Finance Research were laid in 2013 with the conference on Accounting from the Past to the Future, and Accounting, Society, Democracy hosted by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Çaycuma Vocational School. As a continuation of this conference, the 2nd Panel on Accounting from the Past to the Future with the theme - Cultural Interactions in the Science and Profession of Accounting - was held in 2015. In this panel, which was held at a national level, research conducted by academicians and professionals from various universities in Turkey were discussed. The closing session of the panel involved high levels of participation and here a decision was made to transform this initiative into an international scientific organization, due to the overwhelming demands of the panelists and participants. With this decision, the congress has been held internationally every year.
